Photographer’s Guide to Indoor Staging

One of the ways to make your home more attractive to potential buyers is home staging. While many people hire professional home stagers, you can do it on your own without spending a lot of time or money. Before you place your home on the market, consider the following tricks designed to boost your investment and get your home sold.

Say no to clutter. When it comes to staging the inside of your home, the first thing you will need to do is clear the clutter. In addition to cleaning the home, get rid of anything inside that doesn’t serve a purpose. Remove clutter, including accessories, from the furniture and the floor, and feature only the best-quality items. The idea is to keep the design simple but livable, so that the buyer can imagine moving in with their own belongings. This is also a good time to rearrange some of the furniture or store a few items in storage if there is too much in a room. Keeping a room de-cluttered and free of bulky furniture makes it seem bigger to potential buyers.

While you’re de-cluttering your home, don’t forget to clean the mess from every single room, including the kitchen, the bathrooms, and the bedrooms. In the kitchen, clear and clean the countertops, and clean the fridge (both inside and out). In the bathrooms, get rid of clutter from the shower and the countertops, and feature a few matching towels. Whether you’re de-cluttering a bedroom or the bathroom, remove or reduce all personal items, including family photographs on the wall.

In addition to de-cluttering, you can also significantly improve the look of your home by painting a few rooms, shampooing the carpets, and cleaning the windows.
